The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority(NCAA) is optimistic that Nigeria will scale through the International Civil Aviation Organisation(ICAO) Universal Safety Operational Audit Programme (USOAP) being conducted on the country’s aviation industry.
Captain Usman Muhtar,Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority hinged his optimism on the performance of the Nigerian aviation industry in previous detailed examinations by the world’s aviation regulatory agency.
“If you may recall, periodic audits and certification are not unfamiliar to us in the aviation industry.Sucessive audits have been concluded with successes all the way and to all intent and purposes this prevalent exercise would be similarly successful.”
In retrospect,he said Nigeria scored over 90% in the counterpart ICAO Security conducted last year,an exercise where Nigeria was one of the first countries in the world to go through the Universal Security Audit Programme(USAP) Continuous Monitoring Approach(CMA).
“I therefore call on all industry stakeholders to join hands with the regulatory authority to ensure another feat in this year’s audit.”
According to him,Nigeria is absolutely ready for the exercise that the Authority has left no stone unturned all hands were on deck to ensure adequate preparation saying that there has been a very encouraging cooperation and working relationship between all the relevant parastatals and the regulatory ahtority towards a successful outing.
The focal point of the Auditors will be legislation, organization, accident and incident, aerodrome and ground aids.
The team ,according to the spokesman of NCAA,Sam Adurogboye will be in separate groups based on specific assignments that at the conclusion of the audit there will be a closing meeting where the draft audit result will be presented. The audit ends on March 25,2016.
