The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Med-View Airlines.Alhaji Muneer Bankole has appeal to the Nigerian President,Muhammadu Buhari to come to the aid of airlines operators in the country in getting foreign exchange at the official rate.
Speaking in a radio programme in Lagos,Bankole said it was difficult for the airlines to source hard currency each time they want to embark on a major overhaul in their aircraft which is done outside the country.
According to him, often time operators have to resort to the parallel market for foreign exchange to pay for the cost of maintaining their aircraft outside the country, adding that the Buhari led Federal Government, should as a matter of urgency not to rest on its oars to put the economy on a sound footing.
On interlining,he explained that Med-View Airlines was working with Dana Air and other airlines, saying”we do regional together, whatever we do, we still need the government to come to our aid.
Inspite of myriad of problems besetting the aviation sector in Nigeria, the Med-View Chief Executive said his outfit had been wading through them with support of committed staff and shrewd financial management of the company.
He advised that whatever policies the government was embarking upon it should have human face.”People are taking their money outside the country, nobody is bringing his money in because of the unfavorable business climate in Nigeria.”
